Professorship in "Transformation, Innovation & Entrepreneurship”expected to start in the winter semester 2024/2025 or as soon as possible.

Responsibilities in Teaching and Research:

The Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition (LT) at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences is looking for a qualified and committed person to fill the professorship for Transformation, Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Innovation is a key driver for the necessary transformation of societies worldwide towards resilient and circular systems as part of a "Great Transformation". Agricultural and food systems as well as rural areas are important building blocks of this transformation, yet they also face profound socio-economic challenges as a result of the transformation.

This new professorship is intended to accompany the transformation through innovation and the associated foundations, opportunities, and challenges in teaching and applied research. You shall be familiar with the following topics: innovation methods, processes and management; project management; socio-economic aspects of transformation; innovation for sustainable, climate-friendly and circular production and consumption; sustainable regional economic development and value chains; innovative business models, distribution systems and communication; entrepreneurship, and gender aspects of transformation.

The professorship teaches central socio-economic content primarily in the newly-developed Master's degree programs of the Faculty LT in English and German. It will also be involved in some Bachelor's degree courses.

An active involvement in applied research, the supervision of internships, project work, and thesis supervision are required. The teaching load will be largely in English, and participation in the university governance is expected. We offer an interesting field of work at the interface between applied research and practice-oriented teaching with the opportunity for independent further development of the subject area.

Your Profile:

We are looking for a team player with a university degree in geography, political science, sociology, agricultural sciences, economics, spatial planning or a comparable field of study. You have several years of professional experience in the field of sustainable agricultural, environmental or economic development, regional development, NGOs, business start-up consulting, cluster management, networking, e.g. in economic and innovation promotion institutions, chambers of industry and commerce or in one or more other areas related to the topics of this search. You have intercultural skills and initial experience with international projects. The teaching of English and German-language courses, the supervision of internships, projects, and final theses, and an active organization of applied research as well as cooperation in the university self-administration are required.

Requirements: 

1. completed first university degree,

2. pedagogical aptitude,

3. particular ability for scientific and scholarly work as proven by a doctoral degree or comparable academic qualification (in German: "Gutachten über promotionsadäquate Leistungen").

4. Furthermore, we require expertise in the application or development of scientific findings and methods obtained during a period of at least five years of professional practice after graduation from university. Of these, at least three years must be in a field outside university. Professional experience outside university might be recognized, if the candidate has spent a significant part of the position working in a cooperation between university and non-university institutions for a minimum of 5 years.
