Wildlife crime is a growing international problem and has emerged as a significant threat to the biodiversity conservation objectives of Protected Areas (PAs). While the profile of wildlife crime has increased in recent years, the issue remains on the fringes of analysis in the field of criminology, which in turn impacts on how non-compliance is conceptualised within conservation management practice. Where PAs are commonly characterised by poor resourcing and ultimately poor outcomes, Situational Crime Prevention (SCP) offers PA managers the potential to develop pragmatic solutions to complex compliance problems.
