Call for AESOP Chair of Excellence in Education Board: 2020-2023

AESOP is looking for candidates for the Chair of the AESOP Excellence in Education Board 2020-2023.

The Chair will be responsible for the overall coordination of the Board, for managing the Quality Recognition Program and, in particular, for guaranteeing the quality and transparency of the assessment processes for awarding the AESOP CERTIFICATE OF QUALITY.

According to the AESOP Charter (Art. 16d) the Chair of the AESOP Excellence in Education Board is an AESOP Official and therefore has to be elected by the Council of Representatives. The mandate of the Chair lasts for 3 years.

As an Executive Committee (ExCo) member, the EEB Chair is entitled to reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses associated with events to further the activities of the EEB and participation in ExCo meetings. The EEB Chair therefore has to be prepared to travel 2-3 times a year to attend the ExCo meetings. The EEB Chair is also responsible for convening 3-4 board meetings per year (2 general EEB meetings at the AESOP HoS Meeting and AESOP Annual Congress, and 1-2 ad hoc committee meetings for QR evaluation purposes).

The election procedure might include a pre-selection of the candidates by the Executive Committee. The final election will be by the Council of Representatives at the Head of Schools Meeting in Vienna, March 2020. The newly elected Chair will assume the post in July during the AESOP Congress in Bristol. The new Chair of EEB, will be expected to shadow the current Chair of the EEB after election until s/he assumes the post in July.

We are looking for a committed and dedicated candidate, fluent in English and familiar with the Excellence in Education Board requirements: experience in preparing, running and evaluating educational programmes in planning within an European/international context. 

The Executive Committee could put forward a list of pre-selected candidates for election by the Council of Representatives.
