Call for AESOP GPEAN Representative

Published at: 18 December 2018

We are looking for candidates willing to serve as the AESOP’s representative in GPEAN (Global Planning Education Association Network), a network of planning schools associations[1].

This AESOP Officer will be responsible to represent AESOP's interests in the Network and promote cooperation amongst member associations of planning schools across the world.

We are looking for an individual with fluency in English and very good communication and cooperation skills. Working experience in a multicultural context and involvement in AESOP activities will also be an additional advantage. The GPEAN Representative has to be prepared to travel to attend AESOP Executive Committee meetings (3 times a year) and also GPEAN meetings (1-2 times a year). The GPEAN meetings are often held in non-European locations.

The GPEAN Representative is a member of the Executive Committee (ExCo) and has to be elected by the Council of Representatives (CoRep). As such, the GPEAN Representative has to be an academic from an AESOP Member Institution. The mandatory period of the GPEAN Representative is four years (with the possibility of extension up to six years) in order to cover the cycle between World Planning School Congresses (WPSC). As an ExCo member, the GPEAN Representative can seek reimbursement for travel expenses directly associated with the responsibilities of this position (such as ExCo and GPEAN meetings).

One of the responsibilities of the new GPEAN Representative will be helping to organize the next World Planning Schools Congress in 2021.

Our current GPEAN Representative Ela Babalik-Suttcliffe will be happy to share her knowledge and experience with the newly elected GPEAN Representative during the last months of her mandatory period.

The election procedure includes a pre-selection of the candidates made by the Executive Committee and a final election by the Council of Representatives.
