Dr. Jon Marco Church
Jon is Assistant Professor of Regional Development, Sustainability and Politics at the Institute of Regional Development, Environment and Urban Planning (IATEUR) of the University of Rheims - Champagne-Ardenne, France. Since 2011, he's served the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) as Liaison Officer in Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, working on regional economic cooperation in Afghanistan and national policy dialogues on integrated water resources management; since 2009, he's been a Ruffolo Fellow in Sustainability Science at the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS). Before that, Jon served as consultant to the Italian Ministry of the Environment and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in the field of cooperation for the protection and sustainable development of mountain regions and researcher in international relations and project manager for the European Academy (EURAC) of Bolzano, Italy, dealing with the development of regional frameworks, UNESCO Word Heritage, and ecological networks. He obtained his doctorate in Political Science at the University of Paris 1 - Pantheon-Sorbonne with a dissertation on the Alpine Convention, a regional environmental agreement.
