Professor Alvaro Sevilla-Buitrago
Associate Professor of Town and Regional Planning.
Editor in chief of the Spanish journal Urban (http://www2.aq.upm.es/Departamentos/Urbanismo/institucional/publicaciones/urban/).
Blending critical sociospatial theory and urban history, my academic research is focused on the social history of planning and the evolution of the territorial formations of capitalism. My recent work has also analyzed the historical and contemporary dialectics of urban commoning and urban enclosure.
In addition to my scholarly pursuits I have worked as a planning practitioner for ten years, developing plans at several scales, from neighbourhood to city and regional levels, mostly for public institutions in the metropolitan area of Madrid.
