Research Associates for Project on Privatisation of Planning

The Department of Urban Studies and Planning in Sheffield and the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape in Newcastle are seeking two researchers to play a key part in the delivery of a new ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) funded project – ‘Working in the public interest? Spatial planning and the future of public service professional labour’. The Project will explore the impact of the commercialisation of planning work, particularly in terms of meeting public interest objectives. The project runs for 28 months from 01 December 2017 – 31 March 2020, and involves a team from University of Sheffield, Newcastle University, University College London and Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lisbon. It is also benefits from a range of private organisations and public bodies (e.g. the RTPI) who will act as project partners.
