Events

AESOP aims to achieve its goals through the organization of an heterogeneous set of events:

AESOP Annual Congress, focussing on European, national, regional and local spatial planning issues;
Annual AESOP Heads of Schools Meeting, discussing planning education and curricula related issues;
Annual AESOP PhD Workshop, usually preceeding the annual congress and fostering interaction and learning among Ph.D. Candidates focussing on planning related issues;
European Urban Summer School, aiming to bring together young professionals and experienced academics and practitioners from across Europe to discuss relevant planning issues.
AESOP-IFHP Lecture Series to find possible answers to present-day and emerging challenges that face planning and planners as a modern discipline in a new role in our contemporary complex and dynamic society. And celebrate AESOP Silver Jubilee (2012) and IFHP Centenary (2013).

The AESOP BIRTHDAY MEETING 27-28 January 2012

AESOP PhD Workshop 2012: 6-12 July 2012, Izmir

The workshop will take place in Izmir, Turkey from 6 to 9 July, 2012, and will be carried out in conjunction with the 26th AESOP Congress to be held in Ankara, Turkey from 11 to 15 July, 2012.

As 2012 marks the 25th Anniversary of AESOP, the Workshop will also feature special activities to celebrate the occasion, and will serve as a platform for the launch of discussions on how to enhance the relationship between AESOP and the AESOP Young Academics Network, a debate which will be addressed further during the Ankara Congress.

The Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP) will hold its 26th Annual Congress in Ankara, Turkey, from 11 to 15 July 2012. As 2012 will also mark the 25th Anniversary of AESOP our aim is to celebrate the occasion with the participation of many distinguished guests and keynote speakers, along with a number of special sessions and activities. The Congress will also provide the setting for stimulating workshops, round-table discussions, and exciting excursions, during which issues of spatial planning and development specific to Ankara may also be explored.
