For the past ten years, the Aalto University Summer School on Transportation has established itself as a premier institution, offering innovative and practical approaches to understand and solve timely transport problems both in developed and developing countries. The school presents an intensive learning experience for transport professionals and graduate students of varying backgrounds.
Theme and Lectures
The theme of 11th Aalto Summer School on Transportation will be Integrative Envisioning of Mobility Futures. The activities will include lectures, workshops, and site visit focused on various aspects of planning and policy, including technological trends and a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods.
The lecturers will include renowned experts from Aalto University, as well as Istanbul Technical University, Newcastle University, NMBU, Tel Aviv University, TU Delft, University of Amsterdam, University of Leuven, UWE Bristol, and Virginia Tech.
The Summer School 2017 will take place on August 21-25 on the famous campus of Aalto University, in Otaniemi, Espoo, Finland.
Expected Audience, Tuition and Credits
The Summer School is intended for transportation professionals, managers in transport agencies, transport and traffic engineers, planners, transport consultants, citizen advocates, educators, and advanced graduate students in their Master or Doctoral studies. Expected class size is 40. In the past, the participants were from countries across the world.
The registration fee of EURO 700 includes course material and banquet. After June 15, 2017, the fee is EURO 900. The attendees may earn study credits in the Aalto University School of Engineering (2–3 ECTS credits).
A limited number of scholarships for the registration fee is available for graduate students. More information about scholarships is available on the Registration page.
